Dr Catherine has a special interest in gender affirming care. She is deeply passionate about supporting people to be their true selves and being able to express their gender, sexuality and personal identity as authentically as possible. Her care is inclusive of all neurotypes, identities and body types.
Dr Catherine Lyons is a warm and empathetic general practitioner renowned for her passion for the holistic care of her patients. After completing her qualifications at the University of Melbourne, she gained further experience in paediatrics at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne as well as obstetrics and gynaecology. Dr Catherine then worked for Medecins Sans Frontières for a number of years in Africa and Asia. Upon return to Australia, she spent 10 years in emergency medicine before transitioning to general practice.
Dr Catherine believes that medical care should be accepting and inclusive of the whole person, and that accessing good care is dependent on being fully seen as such. She recognises that promoting good health encompasses not just the individual but their supports, biological or chosen family. Dr Catherine has vast experience in all aspects of general practice including women’s health, children’s health, facilitating safe and healthy pregnancies, sexual health, mental health and travel health.
